Artist’s Statement
My work emerges from the sincere act of trusting my hand. I surrender myself to the canvas and I believe in the process. It is like I am opening a door where lost stories and misplaced memories surface and my hand simply allows the work to exist. I wasn’t always viewing the process of making art like this. It’s only the recent years when I started making abstract artworks that I discovered that abstraction gives “permission” to my imagination.
The materials, the paint and the colours and the spray paint – which I love using- create a mood. The marks on the canvas carry a whole history with them, they carry my memories and my perceptions. I enjoy making paintings that represent moods. I enjoy my own way of telling a story. It looks like I create a code that the viewer can crack and communication can start.
